Rob,

I did more testing with the recovery reports.
Still waiting to hear back from IBM.

1) Run immediately after save before dup. - volumes, 2 dup volumes 1332 dup, 1396, 1337 dup, 1060 LTO5
2) Run from maint. - all DUP volumes1332 DUP, 1343 DUP, 1337 DUP, 1060 LTO5
3) Run after maint - all DUP volumes1332 DUP, 1343 DUP, 1337 DUP, 1060 LTO5

These were all run with Q1AIGNRDUP *DTAARA QUSRBRM

I think there is also a timing issue when DUPS are involved.
If I run STRRCYBRM before the DUP is done, the report is accurate.
Otherwise it is not.

Also concerned about QDOC, which is referencing an old LTO5 in all cases.

Paul

Subject: BRMS: USEDUPMED

When we transitioned from LTO to VTL we changed our program which generates our BRMS recovery report to
USEDUPMED(*YES)

I've discovered that *YES is like saying *ONLY. It means ONLY use duplicate media. It will not show you the original media for the recovery report.
Now that we've completed our transition and have done a full system save we should change our defaults back to USEDUPMED(*NO). If we need to run a recovery using one of the older duplicated tapes we can just change that for a one off and we won't need to change the program.

The online help on STRRCYBRM is quite clear on this, using highlighting and all.

Time to go change my daily program which generates our recovery reports...

The problem was that our recovery reports were only showing our full system save from June (which was originally done to LTO and DUPMEDBRM to
VTL) and not our full system save in September.
