Partitioning a Power Systems machine is not something you usually plan
AFTER having the machine. You need to consider if you're going to use a
single or dual VIOS configuration, plan the storage area network (vscsi,
npiv or direct attach?), networking (SEA, SEA-HA, dedicated cards,
SR-IOV?), etc etc etc.

Start looking for redbooks on "PowerVM" and LPAR/HMC configuration but
beware that if the machine is already in production you should bevery
careful.
Also, check what kind of machine you bought, some Power machines have
"LabServices" vouchers which are a godsend when you don't have the skill
inhouse.
