The base tools were always free. What's new is that all the Web GUI tool
to easily create and run templates and analyze the output is now free.

Kevin - that's great news about ARE - is that only the collector, or
does it include the graphic viewer and analyzer - hope I'm close to
using the right terms!!

ARE is a fantastic tool!

Thanks.

Read the article.
What can you do with the core, which comes with the OS vs the GUI
which
is
chargeable?
I would like to see if it does a compare between what is currently
installed on a few systems and doesn't require I set up a template
and
use
that.
FYI, just today found out that ARE is now free with the OS. Should be
a
formal announcement later this week, but I'm told it's on ESS already.

Application Runtime Expert (ARE) has had support to manage PTFs since
last

I'm not sure about monitors, but possibly in Navigator for i.

I've been dreaming out EOL for 7.1 since they announced the final
TR.

Pretty much all I use MGTC for are Monitors & PTF inventory. I
think IBM has done some PTF work in the web nav app, but I don't
recall hearing anything about Monitors.

EOL 7.1
Yeah, if they would have announced it for 9/30 one year out (like
they did for the 6.1 and V5R4) that would have been a nice
anniversary present from IBM. But they missed it.
