A third party application provides a facility for user defined sql queries.

Recently some badly designed queries have had significant impact on interactive performance. Read ground the system to almost a standstill.

My first thought was to create a sub-system specifically for these queries where I can control memory allocation, time slice and priority. I am sure this will solve the problem.

But then I started searching for other options and did not find much to my surprise. Now my google skills may not be the best but I was sure there were other options to stop this situation.

Does the chgqrya apply to sql queries?

What other options will allow resource restrictions where user defined sql queries are required?

Appreciate any suggestions or links.

Thanks

Don
