I figured he was lucky to get to 7.1 on anything running V5R4.
And, he also did an x+2 jump.
Now there's time to plan the next x+2 jump. :-)

And, yes, there are models which will run 7.1 but not 7.3.

Beware of models which claim they will run something higher. Read the
details. Why, yes a Power 6 9117-MMA will run 7.2 - providing you remove
all your disk drives and cards. At least in our case since we dragged
along some enclosures and whatnot that should have died awhile back. We
were in this lean period... We ended up jumping from Power 6 to Power 8.
