Moving to SpoolFlex would seem like a step backwards to me by defining all your reports via green screen instead of the graphical UI our product provides for masking spools.
FWIW, Our WinSpool and DeliverNow products allow you to convert spool files and text files directly to Excel, Access and 20 other formats and allow for automated delivery via Email, Directory, FTP, Sharepoint and our WebDocs Document Management software for report archival.
Templates are defined graphically rather than via green screen and you can handle multiple level breaking as well.
We also have components such as our AutoMate and RPG2SQL products that can do fine grained formatting and processing of the data automatically so you not only get document generation but full process automation.

subject: subject: Reports / Data to Excel - DRV Tech vs. CoolSpools..
We install DRV?s SpoolFlex at all our new clients. It is really easy to use, and even the end users can use it to convert spooled files to PDF and Excel and email without any programming.
We looked at a variety of solutions including CoolSpools, but liked the fact that DRV can convert to Excel in XLS and XLSX, not just CSV or TXT. Their Excel formatting capabilities were superior to any other products we looked at, even if the headings moved up and down. We even converted a client that had been using the RJS product because of the SpoolFlex formatting capabilities.
They have excellent US based support which we have taken advantage of when implementing new automated distributions, but can also call on DRV when we want help converting more complicated spooled files to Excel. Their support is great, and their pricing is reasonable. We tried their free evaluation software and had results in less than an hour. We?ve recommended them ever since.
