Passing a user and password via QNTC to a server.

Is there a place where you can see the rules for passing a user and password
from the I to a QNTC server?

I need to ask the network administrator of a remote box on 5.4 to check or
setup a user profile.

Does 5.4 care about case at all? Do newer releases care? Is lower case
always sent from the i?

Mixed case is not allowed on the i.
