Believe me, I've told these users that they need to request the programming
group to step up and give them a better solution. They've even taken SEQUEL
for a test drive. I replicated one of their routines that runs 2 hours with
query, and the SEQUEL script completed in 30 seconds.
The problem is that "management" will step over a dollar to save a dime. One
result of that attitude is the client now has a grand total of 2 programmers
(out of 40) that speak English as their first language.
I could tell all kinds of stories, but you'd need to bring a few cases of
Leinie's to hear them all.

Paul, I'd ask them if they have ever heard of Control Language and SQL. It
might be news to them but they are both supported on IBM i and have been for
some time.
Anyone running macros such as you describe needs a real long rethink about
the architecture and reliability of the systems they run.

I calls 'em like I sees 'em. Only a couple of them even shave more than once
a week.
Picture macros that run dozens of queries. Some of those can run overnight.
I have stayed out of the details, but those macros did not survive the
upgrade intact.

'Windows Weenies'??? Denigrate much?
We have been running Windows 10 with ACS for months with zero issues. Not
sure what all these problems are you are referencing.

The fun part is watching the windows weenies having to sped all their time
dealing with the broken scripts and macros, not to mention the fact that the
Windows 10 upgrade wiped out printer definitions for every end user, along
with the ability to click the print screen button.
And yes, I was a beta site for Client Access 20 plus years ago. I even got
drive mapping to work on that lovely piece of software known as Windows for
Workgroups.
