I can't guarantee it, but a 1 GB growth in a few hours is very atypical for my system.

There's always the flamethrower approach:
DLTPTF PTF(*ALL)
It will not remove any ptf's which have been applied. Read the help.

BTW, 1GB would be 0.02% on our production lpar.
Can you really attribute this growth to just the PTF's?

Funny how PTF's aren't even a detailed line item on PRTDSKINF *SYS
