The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
A cheap and easy way is to have an output only text field to display
messages.
I prefer using a message subfile displaying messages from the program
message queue.

Subject: iseries display file basics (not a subfile)
I am presenting a DDS screen to add a database record.
I do a WRITE and then a READ.
How can I display "Record added" on the same display upon successful add of
a record?
If I write a different record format to the screen, the original screen is
cleared.
I thought I could use OVERLAY, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Any ideas??
Thanks!
