I use:
            SFLSIZ(&NBRRECS)
     NBRRECS       5S 0P

That way a FOR loop becomes super easy:
      for wNdx = 1 to NBRRECS;
        chain wNdx SFL;
        if  CTLFLD = 1;
          // whatever process you may desire:
        endif;
      endfor;
