Host system is IBM i 7.1.
Client is Red Hat Linux 6.3 on Power.

CIFS Mounts are being done on the Linux side to shared folders in the IFS,
and have worked well for several months without any know failures.

However, last week we started encountering failures from the Linux side
when copying files to the mounted folder and it seems that the only way to
fix it is to unmount and remount the shared folder.

Solution alternatives according to the IBM Netserver documentation:
http://www-
03.ibm.com/systems/power/software/i/netserver/linuxfaq/smbfs.html#G

- Start a cron job on the Linux client that periodically refreshes the
connection.

- Unmount and remount. This will establish a new connection.

- Set a high idle timeout value for IBM i NetServer (default is 6000
seconds). This causes the server to keep the session resources active.

Anyone have experience with this?

Regards,
sjl
