For the typical SQL INDEX [i.e. non-partitioned], there should only ever be one member, thus there is no such capability to Remove Member (RMVM); that native [non-SQL] request should fail with msg CPF320A. Noting however: As part of DR, restoring without members can produce that illogical effect, with the expectation that the next operation would be to restore the one\only missing member.

For a partitioned table over which a [partitioned] INDEX is built, I presume [I have no actual experience], that the effect is achieved by removing the physical partition:

ALTER TABLE … DROP PARTITION partition-name

or remove all partitions

ALTER TABLE … DROP PARTITIONING
