Documentation states there is a "Force Translate" parameter that is not implemented. Opened reflector and sure enough it's not present, but did find this in reflector:

CharBitDataCcsid and CharBitDataAsString (set it to TRUE)

I think the parameter you are looking for is CarBitDataAsString, try just setting that to TRUE.

Does anyone know how to force the .NET Data Provider to translate CCSID 65535? I found an MS doc for OLEDB, and there you used "BinAsChar=true;CCSID=37" in your connection string. Unfortunately, that crashes if you use it with the .NET Data Provider.
