Converting from fiber LTO4 to Data Domain 2500 Virtual Tape Library (VTL)

We're converting from fiber LTO4 to Data Domain 2500 Virtual Tape Library
(VTL).
Both using the same adapter, SAN, etc.

Heavy Domino use on this lpar. No "traditional" applications.
Auxiliary storage:

This lpar is a guest lpar. It's IBM i host is all spinning disks.
Fiber is on a 577D hosted via vios.
We're an all 7.3 shop.

All times checked using DSPLOGBRM. Times are in HH:MM.

Going from physical to a one drive vtl shaved off 1:16. Ran in 47% of the
time.
Going from physical to a four drive vtl shaved off 1:41. Ran in 30% of
the time.
Going from one drive to four drives shaved off 0:24. Ran in 64% (roughly
2/3) of the time of a one drive vtl.

We have duplicate DD2500's. One in one city with two Power 8's. One in
another city with one Power 8's. They replicate between each other. We
have done a restore done in the one city to a lpar in the other city. Sure
beats calling Iron Mountain and asking for a tape to be sent back. Or
driving there and back.
