DEVCLS(*LAN) TYPE(*IPDS)

Note that DEVCLS(*LAN) TYPE(*IPDS) requires both
1) the chargeable PSF for IBM i license program (5770ss1 option 36,37,or 38)
2) An IPDS capable printer. Normally from IBM/Ricoh/Lexmark. HP doesn't
offer IPDS but some 3rd parties offer IPDS chips for HPs.

Whoops (on my part)!

We definitely have the IPDS PSF installed.

I managed to pick the only printer in the building with an IPDS chip in
it to look at as an example.
Most of them (really, this time!) are

DEVCLS *LAN
TYPE 3812
MODEL 1
LANATTACH *IP
PORT 9100
ATTACH *DIRECT
ONLINE *YES

WSCST aren't used for IPDS printers.

My IPDS printer has

USRDFNOBJ HP4350
*LIBL
*PSFCFG

My non-IPDS printers have

MFRTYPMDL *WSCST
...
WSCST IT5500
QGPL
USRDFNOBJ *NONE
*NONE
USRDTATFM *NONE
SYSDRVPGM *HPPJLDRV

For ASCII printers, Buck's pointing out the right path.

Create a WSCST, looking up the escape code needed for your printer, and add
a :DWRSLT parm if not there.

Then you can simply specify DRAWER(3) on the printer file or via OVRPRTF.

So, thanks for the correction! I hate putting wrong stuff out :-(
