When I ran the message was still down there on my screen.

The API isn't going to help you if the message in question is not
actually in the current program message queue. If you were using a
message subfile then this would at least clear the message line on the
screen. Without adding a message subfile, is this a case of not having a
record format in your display file that doesn't have the OVERLAY keyword
on it? If you have that and it still isn't clearing the message, then you
could add a blank field to your display file to overlay the message line
and that should clear the message when you write that record format to the
screen. Beyond that, you might need the other suggestion which was to
remove the message from the joblog -- though I don't put much stock in
that actually changing what is on the screen (though I've never tried that
scenario -- but I don't think status messages are written to the joblog,
anyway).

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
