Never have figured out a decent use for the so-called
"return" value from a CL subroutine
Unless the subroutine is supposed to have a numeric result, the
only other use I see for it is a success/error code to let the caller know
the results of subroutine processing. Zero for success and other values
for different types of failure codes. Beats me otherwise.
