Omnifind? To speed up the system?

No, that is not right. Omnifind (5733-OM1) is a text search engine. Is it
possible they meant DB2 Symmetric Multiprocessing? Now its possible for
that to speed up queries, index builds, re-orgs, etc. But even with that you
want to understand how it works. We have made DB2 SMP available for trial
just recently. It "parallelizes" DB2 tasks (splits up a single task, like a
table scan, into multiple threads). Read more about SMP at
https://ibm.biz/Bd4fFb

But if you want Omnifind, have your Business Partner order it for you - they
have to do this - but it is no charge.

At a seminar last week, we were told that if we would install Omnifind, it
would, in general, speed up the system. It was from one of our own right
here on the list. But I won't mention names, I'll let him come forward if
he wants.

I had to get out the install CDs (V7R1) to install something else and
decided now was the time if I'm going to do it.

Questions:

Is this right? Just install it, get PTFs, and then stand back? Or does one
have to "do something?"

Also, when I do the Install Licensed Programs option, I see no Omnifind
listed. Do I need to get it from elsewhere?

Thanks.
