Let's say I want to run a query comparing inventory valuation as of the
last 12 period ends. With temporal tables you could know the on hand,
cost, list price, etc as of each particular date/time.

One could do that with journals but egads would that be difficult.

We already do extensive journal farming. Our journal receiver library is
huge.
