We have Japanese systems as well. When we switch the HMC to Japanese and entering sign on information - we can't press the enter key. We have to click the Log in or OK button (what ever it is underneath). The enter key is not interpreted correctly.

Hope that helps.

Subject: Using HMC to load a new Japanese system

Folks:

I'm trying to install a new Japanese system but can't get the HMC to let me login to the system.

The signon screen is in Japanese, as expected, but when we enter the QSECOFR user id & password, the system just displays the signon screen again. No error messages.

If we put in the wrong password, it gives us an appropriate error.

Any ideas on how we can get into the system?

I've tried accessing it from a Japanese copy of Windows 7 also.

In both cases the emulator's code page is set to 939 ... but we've also tried 930.

Thanks!

david
