In my case was vFC with no disks attached

Diego,

One must ensure no disks are on the same IOP that controls the tape.
If so, that would freeze the system/LPAR.
When I plan and configure an LPAR, I ensure that tape has its own IOP, not
shared with any disks.

same 3573 library?

I've freezed a system changing library attributes (VTL) , drive
configuration and IPLing the IOP...

Diego,

IPLing the IOP takes care of that.

Paul,

not sure, but maybe is something related to the drive types and how they
are seen from OS. Maybe you need to remove the library and drives and IPL
the system so OS recognize the library again with the right drives and info.

Again, not sure, but something strange happens when you change something
on FC libraries.

Last week, our CE experienced a very similar issue at another site with
3573, LTO3 and LTO5 being swapped.
CE stated they reconfigured the library resolved the issue, not sure
why.
