IMO it would have been more natural for IBM to use *EXPLICIT but that's
what the *SSL option does. So *SSL IS *EXPLICIT. If you use it then the
FTP client will connect normally then try use the AUTH command to start
an SSL connection on the control channel before trying a login. The
control channel will then be encrypted (as will the data channel by
default) until you use a CCC command to get out of encrypted mode. Have
