And if you are on 7.2, you can query the journal via SQL

SELECT * FROM TABLE ( DISPLAY_JOURNAL( 'DBLIB', 'QSQJRN')) AS JNL


Time will tell whether DISPLAY_JOURNAL() will gain much traction. The fact
that journal receivers keep getting detached and archived makes it an
improbable solution in my mind. That plus the complexity of filtering out
all but table read events - which is what the OP is looking for...
