So if you have Zend Server (Basic edition paid for by IBM) you could use PHP and call the PHP from CL.
Since you can call almost any QSH command from CL your world opens up quite a bit.

Same for Python I think. Ruby, Aaron would have to jump in on

All the DropBox APIs are open source, and several of them could run on the i.

In particular, there are SDKs available for Python, Ruby, and PHP,
which should all work on the i. If you aren't already fluent in Java,
these other languages may be easier.
