It's very likely connected, however I'm not sure it matters. OEM vendors
just like IBM, have limited resources/money to maintain their software.
They have to make choices depending on the customer base. Frankly I'm
surprised they waited this long to make that announcement. HelpSystems for
the most part does keep up with IBM on getting their software to run on
currently supported OS versions and is normally ready for new
version/releases as they come out. Therefore it's not surprising to see
them leave behind older versions of software.
I'm pleased they are doing it. It'll get a couple of my customers off the
ball to get upgraded to V7R2 and maybe V7rX when it comes out.
