Like the others, I use MetroFax (www.metrofax.com) internet fax service.  For a monthly charge of around $15 they let you send or receive up to 1000 pages at no additional charge.  It works essentially the same way that Jon reported for MyFax.

I went with this service initially for outbound fax service, but then found that having them also handle my inbound fax traffic was the big bonus.  I forward my fax# to a phone number that they gave me when I signed up.  Now all inbound faxes end up as email attachments in my inbox.
