totaly agree.. do not use QDLs, and folders...

QDLS is outdated.

FTP would only be one part of the solution...

as other mentioned, they are many possibilities to exchange data between
systems...
depending on what systems start the process and the level of automation...
you could

- from the server or a workstation use ODBC and acces your DB2 database
from Excell ... (you define your SQL query in the data source in
excell)...
- from System i Navigator, you can run any SQL script and export
immediately to your server drive...

- I do not know SEQUEL but instead of using QDLS, you canprobably write
a file directly to a shared drive of your windows file server. /QNTC is
perfect for that...

No. Do NOT use QDLS. Ever for new development.

I'm normally not black or white on an issue.. but this is one of the rare
ones.

actually they want to use the QDLS.

Well we would use SEQUEL like here: SEQUEL/EXECUTE VIEW(lib/view)
PCFMT(*PDF) TOSTMF('/QDLS/folder/file.pdf')

How can I view this part QDLS/folder/ ? Then the next step is to map
the
PC server to the QDLS?
Where do I do that in the IBM i?

Yes, FTP would probably be the easiest I would think. As long as the
FTP
server is up and running on the server you want to send information to
that
is. :)
