The most reliable method should be to use DSPPGMREF against the PGM objects. There’s an article on it here: http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/Find-the-programs-that-use-a-particular-file-using-DSPPGMREF

Various tools have been written to use this as a base - if you have TAATOOLS on your system there is certainly one there.

This article - the second in a series of three shows how the output can be manipulated with SQL http://www.mcpressonline.com/system-administration/techtip-analyze-your-programs-and-applications-part-ii.html

Craig Rutledge has a utility that does source file scanning to achieve this http://www.jcrcmds.com/jcrdown2.html#JCRFSET_tag

That should keep you busy for a while!

HI I am looking for a tool or code. I have to lookup often
where a file is in use in a program. I run Find string using option 25 on
say
QRPGLESRC and it prints a list.

I would like to have a program that will take a parameter of a file
name, read all the libraries in our system, do this '25' on them. Do I read
a file in QSYS to get this?

then I would need the command to do the option 25.

Thanks this would save me alot of time.
