does the title iNext mean there were be useful features added to the core
OS?

Like object names longer than 10 characters. CL support for sub procedures
and even exported procedures. The CPP of a command being an ILE procedure
( or even SQL procedure ). Libraries containing libraries. Support for
namespaces in RPG and CL. ( where maybe the namespace is implemented as a
library within a library. ) SQL supported In CL.

Would be neat to have an SQL function return a result set. That way you
could join to the SQL function.
select a.custName, b.ordnum, b.orderDate
from custMaster a
join GetCustomerOrders( a.custNum ) b

Based on that Scott Forstie link mentioned, it's definitely 7.3.

But Steve has in fact said things at public user group meetings like "I
like the sound of 7.3 it just seem right...."

I'm liking 7.3.

Hey Paul

This is just someone lacking for something to write about. It's not
worth looking at, IMO - I've been in meetings with Steve and Alison,
with NDA signed, and they're not saying anything firm about version
numbers.

The author, whom I've had some good dealings, just doesn't REALLY know
anything about this - lots of guesses, lots of noise.
