Well your telnet is still down, running a job in batch will and not having access to iSeries Navigator or the web interface will leave you in the dark. Either way your telnet is down until you find and fix the issues. By using something more interactive and without losing your connection, you are in a better place to troubleshoot. And you know you have access to the required tools to find and fix the issues.
