I've never used MIMIX...

But I don't see how that would work...it'd be asking a lot.

Rob mentioned MIMIX handling a BPCS405CD to ERPLX upgrade. But I'm
guessing the backup system wasn't in use during the upgrade.

You really should contact MIMIX support.

Dave / Rob,

Thanks for the details, and I should have been more specific.

Just clarifying, a planned outage is scheduled for the application upgrade.
A role swap occurs from Primary to Backup.
On the Primary, the application upgrade
1) creates a temp library,
2) copies PF from normal production library to this temp library,
3) deletes the LF and PF in the production library,
4) recreates new PF and LF, with either added/or dropped fields.
5) copies the data back from temp library to production library using
either CPYF map/drop or custom program.

Can MIMIX can handle this or will this be down time and done outside of
MIMIX.

Paul

Perhaps there's some reason you need to be vague on what kind of files
you're talking about. I'll try to dance around that...

When working with a HA/DR solution based on replication, like Mimix, you
may not select to replicate everything. For example, you may not replicate
the unmodified vendor software but you may replicate the library containing
your mods. Of course the last upgrade we did was from BPCS405CD to ERPLX
so that was pretty major, and it's been awhile. This involved new library
names and whatnot. Including our data libraries.

If you're talking about various IBM files, well, you may not replicate
stuff in certain libraries there also. For example, when we upgaded the OS
on GDIHQ2 a few days before upgrading the primary on GDIHQ1 we didn't want
IBM's mods to file structures being moved in between.
We're rather picky on some of these libraries.

Can you get a rough idea from this snippet?

Can a HR/DR solution handle an application upgrade that includes changes
to PF and LF?

Thank You
