Hello,

If any of you have been in WEB 400 then you have seen me in there.

I am new to the IBM i. I am developing a web application. My back ground is heavy LAMP.

I have respected the power of the AS400 since I saw one as the President of the DFW OS/2 Users group.

Now to my question....................

I would really like to build my own Power PC.

Pick motherboard, CPU, RAM, SSD, HDD.......

Can this be done with the Power PC in order to create an IBM i platform?

I am not cheap; but I am very frugal.

Would a used AIX machine suffice? I have built PCs for decades. I am in unfamiliar territory.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am not poor but I am not Warren buffet either.

My company owns two machines at the moment, on with v6r1 and a v7r1.

I do not know what kind of hardware runs either yet.

Thank You,
Rob
