Wintouch, while it is a CRM system, rather than an ERP system, uses LVLCHK(*YES). We deal with addition, removal, and modification of user-defined fields by (1) keeping very tight control over those modifications (a utility is provided for making those changes), (2) keeping the meta-data for those user-defined fields in a separate, readily-accessible file (which is also how the client gets the meta-data), and (3) using "program-described" mode (and occasionally also SQL) wherever the core server code accesses files that can have user-defined fields (typically the core server code has little need to access individual system-defined fields, and no need at all to access individual user-defined fields).
