Alan,

I haven't had a need to print the euro symbol myself, so I don't kow the answer but I'm surprised that you haven't solved this! I see you've set the character id, and it didn't work, but I haven't really noticed any other good ideas to try in this thread....?!

Personally, my approach would be to find out what the printer needs to print this symbol. (Maybe by looking what the Word document is sending...) I would also look at what IBM i is sending. When you know what input the printer needs, and know what the IBM i is sending wrong, it should be relatively easy to see what is amiss, right?

If it's a simple character translation issue (there's just a simple hex value for a character needed, and it's not happening) you can always stick some custom code in a WSCST to do the exact translation you need.

If it's more complex than that (you need an escape sequence, for example) then you might need to do something more complex like write your own "user data transform" exit program.

But, either way... if the printer supports the euro character in the font you're using, this should definitely be possible.

Hi everyone
Before I forget – we are on V5r4

To cut a long story short – we are having problems printing the Euro symbol (€) on a number of different printers
hp LaserJet P4015n

Canon LBP 6780

We can see the Euro symbol when we look at the spool file on the iSeries, but when we print the spool file – it prints as a small box with concave sides

We have managed to print a word document containing the Euro to one of these printers – so we believe that it is NOT the printer

We have the chrid set to 695 1140 on both the printer file and both printers

As always - any answers gratefully accepted
