Collecting TCP communications information in real time.

Is there a system API or Exit Point that allows for collecting TCP
communications information in real time? I would be looking to capture TCP
connection and reset events both inbound and outbound. I know about
STRCMNTRC for capturing communications to a print file or database file, but
I need something that captures in real time. I imagine there must be a
system hook somewhere as intrusion detection and prevention systems need
this type of hook. Any thoughts?
