Another resource I really like is the online library at -

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/LIBRARY

Lots of stuff - architecture like MOD-CA, DRDA, and lots of stuff we don't
care about. But useful for me many times.

There's an ancient IBM manual, long out of print, called:
Application Programming: Application Development by Example I have
SC21-9852-0 on mine.
I had a copy long ago, and remember that is was useful. I went
looking in all the dark recesses of my office, but couldn't find it.
Then I looked online and couldn't find it at all.

My recollection of the history of manuals is fuzzy, but I think it
goes like this:
Paper
BookManager

Softcopy Library
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/html/as400/onlinelib.htm
Information Center
Knowledge Center
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i/welcome

For sure, the S/36 and S/38 manuals were paper-only. Unless someone
digitised them... BookManager had specially-formatted .boo files
which needed the IBM BookReader to view. The oldest BookManager shelf
I can find is for V3R7. The Softcopy Library was a combination of
.boo, .pdf, and .html files. The oldest Softcopy Library I can find is
V4R1.

The Development by Example book isn't in any of those places... I
wonder if it was a System/38 paper manual? Oh, well. Unless someone
digitises a copy it'll remain a mystery...
