Yeah I'm going about this backwards. It appears that if you make a .hod file association to acslaunch.exe it will alunc the particular hod file.
OR
You can create a shortcut that does this "acslaunch.exe 5250session.hod"
Not sure what use the 5250 session switch has, when the hod files control many more things.

I'm not sure you can - others will have to say so.
But I think the switch is to control what you options you see in the main ACS interface. There is no particular .hod associated with the main interface. This would be like how it is with Operations Navigator, where what options you see do not have any association with a particular 5250 session when you say to include that in the options.
You start 5250 sessions using a particular .hod file, not through the ACS app itslef - unless you go to the 5250 session manager there. Of course, there might be another way there, but I haven't tried to yet.
