I had tried DS years ago - at least 5 and maybe 8. At the time I did not find it a compelling tool - the data component of Navigator gave me more of what I needed.

I will admit I didn't spend much time in it, so I can't say I gave it a fair try. And troubles with a recent installation have made me shy away.

A question - I suspect that DS and other SQL tools would not know about the visual explain optimizer stuff - is this true?

Cheers
Vern

Yeah, it doesn't seem all that popular, despite being a no-cost
offering. There is a small group of RDi users who are known to be
dipping our toes into the Data Studio pool. Most of the messages over
on the RDi list involve installation questions. To save you a click,
Data Studio 4.1.2 is compatible with RDi 9.5. The IBM Data Studio home
page is http://www-03.ibm.com/software/products/en/data-studio It's a
1.5 GB download.
