See if this is a starting place for you:

Embedded SQL (SQLRPGLE) would let you embed your SQL and would accept:date1 and :date2 as variables in your SQL. It would require few, if any, apostrophes.

What is a simple and straight-forward method to

* Present a screen to a user

* Prompt for date-range

* Substitute the date-range into an SQL statement which CREATEs a new file (after joining and filtering several files & rows)

* Execute the SQL

Would a CL command work? Or a DDS screen?

Then can I use SQL in a source member and insert the date range? Or is QMQuery the best way to do this?

(I really don't want to use OPNQRYF with all the nasty quotes to do this - those statements get ugly)

Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance!!
