ok, I understand about the older version of java issue. so the
jtds-1.3.1.jar will not work.

however, when I move the jar from /QIBM/UserData/Java400/ext/ to
/java/jdbc it fails in a similar fashion.
(I am going to test it again here in a minute...)

Yes, the older version off jTDS works with older versions of Java, that's

I would not recommend ever putting stuff in the "ext" directory... The
reason is because anything in that directory is _always_ loaded, and you
