Several years ago, the computer used for LAN console failed. Replacement
computer was configured. I remembered being on the phone with IBM doing
the 65+21 stuff. The replacement computer was XP. Since XP has to go, I
was asked how much longer that XP box would be needed. The 520 is going
away, but the exact date has not been communicated, if it has been
determined.

I tried to keep notes on what I did to make the new computer function as a
console. Lots to write down, and then I had an office move where
everything has been rearranged.

All I remember from the adventure was pushing buttons, telling IBM values
on the display, and pushing more buttons.

What I am wondering is if there is data stored on that computer that can be
saved and restored so same hardware would be used, but have Windows 7 and
function as console. Wondering if the steps on the 520 would still be
valid if os on LAN console was replaced.
