I agree if we were going to keep it.
It is very under sized and underpowered. We have just out grown it.
There is a push to "why buy old technology" like an as/400.
I have all the info of why to upgrade to a power 8.
I say why should be old technology based on a DOS system?
They seem to think that getting rid of the IBMi and putting everything on
a server (which the IBMi is) that everything will work without integration.
Nothing is going to be happening soon. I just need to show what it can do.
Getting to 7.1 will be a start.

If you can afford it, an HMC is a great alternative for your system
console. Pretty much required if you're doing multiple lpars of IBM i.

Subject: Replace Twinax Console With Lan Console
Sent by: "MIDRANGE-L" <midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
Hi All,
We have a 9406-525 running 5.4.
I want to bring it up to 7.1 being that is as far as I can take that box.
My understanding is that the twinax console needs to be replaced with a
lan console before the upgrade.
Is that correct that a twinax console is not supported?
What are you recommendations as what hardware/software/instructions to
use?
I am working on getting us a new box but you know, baby steps.
We would need the current box to be past 5.4 anyway to go to the new box
anyway, right?
