Not sure which tn5250 you're finding crashy. I have used the one at
http://tn5250.sourceforge.net/ for many years, on Windows XP, Vista and
7 to talk to machines on V5R4, 7.1 and 7.2. I don't recall it ever
being fragile but there were reports years ago of issues after a
copy/paste operation which couldn't be reproduced if I remember.
