Logical or physical?  If a logical I can easily see where one logical's 
member could point to multiple physical file members.
Can you paste in more of the DSPFD?

I searched PTF cover letters for "number of members" and there was a V5R4 
one for RSTOBJ and a 6.1 and 7.1 for ALTER TABLE but they don't quite seem 
related.
