Come on, Dieter - you can't be serious - except I think you are.Not everything that runs in AIX can run in PASE - I think you know that - to say you can just put the AIX version of DB2 in PASE is irresponsible to this group. The AIX group at IBM is NOT in the business of making its applications work in PASE, not at all, I'm sure.
This whole topic has absolutely nothing to do with JDBC - yes, you were able to use that to good effect, but that is a layer on top of the implementation of the database, which is down in SLIC. The database component of this object-based system has no parallel in AIX or Windows or Linux - and you know that, too!
Finally, statements about what is possible or not as to temporal support should not be listened to - from none of us - the presentation that Charles cited may not even be something to use to predict what the support will look like on i - all idle and mostly dangerous speculation, especially as it relates to expectations.

The main feature is, that you can define constraints, that such intervalls don’t overlap and the possibility for system maintained columns. But with this you would loose the capability to add records now for data of tomorrow. - diffrences between db2 luw, mainframe and as400 are marketing related only. It should be no problem to run db2 for aix on as400, all pase capabilities are there without installing the license programm pase, why should it be a technical problem to run db2 luw in the pase environment? - same thing with connecting to jdbc databases. If a one man show is able to implement ArdGate within some weeks, it could only be marketing that ibm is taking lots of money for workarounds to enable comparable capabilities. ym2c D*B
