about that journal evaluation...

DSPJOB OPTION(*CMTCTL)
5=Display
Commitment
Definition     Text
*DFTACTGRP     Default activation group
F6=Display resource status
1=Select  on  Journal

                        Commit Cycle          Record      Pending
Journal     Library     Identifier            Locks       Changes
USERS       #MXJRN                            0           0

5=Display commit cycle entries 6=Display all entries

Too darn bad it shows you the whole stinking journal and doesn't subset it
by option x=See <expletive deleted> from this job

Because that ain't too hard to do (once the dspjob stuff gave you the
journal to search)
DSPJRN JRN(#MXJRN/USERS) JOB(763724/ROB/ROBS1)

Sequence Code Type Object Library Job Time
18563810   C     CM                           ROBS1       16:01:38
18563811   F     MD   MYTABLE     ROB         ROBS1       16:01:38
18563813   D     DF   MYTABLE     ROB         ROBS1       16:01:38
18563820   C     EC                           ROBS1       16:19:26

CM=Commit
MD=Member Delete
DF=Delete File
EC=End Commitment, which occurred when I used endjob against this job from
another session (job hung when I tried to enter a letter in a number field
in this DSPJRN and no amount of error reset, sys-req, etc was breaking me
out.)
DSPFD ROB/MYTABLE
Look, the table is back.
The delete must have automatically rolled back due to the endjob
