We use this for several things - it takes a SELECT statement and dumps the results into a spreadsheet - you can have a sheet that has headings and all - the data starts at the first row without content. Several options for output, as I recall.

This one creates only XLS files, not the latest XLSX - in fact, I think both have that limitation. These utilities are open source, so one might be able to take the latest POI and get XLSX files out of it.
