That can work, but somewhat depends on having good and fast "cache look-up" routines or procedures (algorithms).

If look-up tables are not too large, you can also issue SETOBJACC to "bring" the *FILEs into real main storage (page them in to a memory pool) to speed subsequent access. This is often called "anticipatory paging."
