I think you would not be having this dscussion if you agreed what the term
"data" meant first.


I thought it was quite obvious that was the point I was getting across.
*shrug*

I get contacted almost every day by people asking how to convert spooled
files to "excel" or other forms of "data".

Sure, I explain how to do it, but I also tell them it's a bad idea, and if
AT ALL possible, use the "real" data if possible (ie, output to a PF, then
CPYTOIMPF for example).

In other words, I'm telling my customers (and many potential customers) I'd
rather you didn't give me money and instead did it "correctly".

That's all I was doing here.. sharing my personal experiences on the
subject. If for no other reason that if someone sees this in the archives
they will realize that even if it CAN be done, if it can be avoided it
should be.
